Is Mijn Schatje ( Marie Blanco Hendrickx ) An Art Thief?

When was plagiarism ever okay, and where does one draw the line between reference and tracing? There is a huge debate on the internet discussing these very points in conjunction with an up and coming artist, Mijn Schatje.

Mijn is an international artist who has received much acclaim for her digital vector art, with some of her prints retailing for upwards of $1700 each. It has come to light over the course of the past week that she has in fact been tracing over original photography, and claiming the whole completed image as a product of her own imagination. The photographs that she has been pilfering are from a very small, but growing community of collectors and manufacturers of Asian Ball Jointed Dolls. When first confronted with these accusations, she claimed to have never seen a photo of these dolls that looked like her art, but later recanted and claimed to have used some pictures from personal friends with permission. This claim has been proven to be false, by way of a great collaborative effort on the part of the BJD community to track down the original pictures and create overlays of those along with her art so that others can make a decision for themselves.

Austin Texas has been one of the fore-front cities in the US for introducing BJDs to the mass public thanks to Kerbey Lane Doll Shoppe and the Japanese doll company Volks partnering in 2004 for the Super Dollfie Convention. At that convention, Volks saw the mass demand for their unique fine art quality dolls, and opened their eyes to bringing their products to the US.

Time for a doll want list!  I'm all over the place lately and I need to focus.

I really woul like for someone to buy my mom's Griffi... she's been absolute hell to sell.  She's just not... pretty.  You know?  That body... that face... it's just... ugh.

My doll list is confusing me :(  I love all of the doll molds... ALL of them... WARGH!!  I'm thinking SD10 is the winner... but which one yall???

I'm really sick today for some reason.  Can't tell if it's just allergies or if I have a bad cold.  Oh well...  Mom won't let me lay in bed :(  I just want to rest.  But nooooooo, I need to do dishes and other household chores.  I really don't mind doing these chores.  I'm just all pouty cause I feel gross.

Playing around on Gaia trying to get 500 fucking eggs.  I just really want to know what the last gift is.  I have no life -_-()

I am now a fangirl of Deadpool.  Blanche bought Wolverine vs the Hulk and Deadpool was fucking hilarious.  I'm going to go out and buy Deadpool comics and graphoc novels so I can catch up with him.

Blanche is really getting me back into the world of DC and Marvel.  I'd strayed away from comic books when manga came out.  I have so much catching up to do!!  I've even forgotten major plot lines and character info.  I have some research to do XD

I'm exhausted.  My jaw hurts from fake smiling and yelling over the music in the store.  My little 5 hour shift felt like 9 bijillion hours.  I thought 5:00 would never roll around.  I love my job, it's a fun place to work, but weekends are crappy because of all the dumb ass kids running around.  3 year olds behave better then the majority of the highschool mall gawths that come into our store. 

This dude tried to steal jeans.  He put them in the bag right in front of me.  Then he tried to leave... dumb asses!!  I also had to get onto a couple of girls (dressed like idiots btw) because they were yelling profanities at eachother. And by yelling, I mean screaming the word fuck to eachother across the store.  Then some mall gawth came in and were litterally running around the store playing hide and seek/steal from the fucking store. I shouldn't have to be these kid's mom, but I sure as hell had to be it today. 

Come home and my cats have left me a big ol' present.  One of them threw up allllllllllll over my friggin' bed.  Luckily it was mostly my quilt, but still.  Not something you really want to come home to.

Lonny is coming to visit today, not sure how long he'll be staying, but he is coming ^_^  Plus the Voltair lolita meet at Elysium.  We'll probably get there late... but we'll get there...

I apologize for my constant "bawww" posts.  I'm trying not to be so mopey and pathetic.  Promise.

Artemus is seriously in love with the dolls.

There was plenty of room on the couch for him to lay on, but he chooses the dolls.  Either he really likes them, or really likes shedding on them XD

Almost dropped Scott today.  Took him to therapy with me and tripped on my way out of the building.  omg, I would have cried so much.  I'm already depressed enough without my doll breaking.

So.. I'm trying to distract myself with dolls.  Faceups are going well-ish.  Cats keep getting in the way and when I lock them out they get upset and panic-y.  I finally have a blush job on Rochelle's doll that I ACTUALLY like.  She's coming together.  Next I have to do eye shadow, then all the line work.  Sooo... I can move onto the next doll heads!

I need to buy Latte new eyes, Alice desperately needs a new body.  The AR body sucks so hardcore :/

Lonny is coming up next weekend ^_^  That is deffinately something to look foward to.  Plus there is going to be a lolita meet on Saturday @ elysium..  I think there will be drinking fun times before hand, but I probably won't get to go to that.  I'm working 12-5 on Saturday :( 

I need to go to the gym, but I have taken too many xanax to drive... That sucks.

God.. I just want to wallow in my bed and have a good cry.  I gotta be strong and not give into how pathetic I feel.

I have worked like... 2 1/2 hours this week.. My next paycheck is going to suck.  Le sigh.

I have been so bad the past two or three weeks -_-()  Not going to the gym regularly and over eating.  I know the recent bout of over eating has been slight depression.  I eat when I get depressed...

So... today was the last day of the over eating doom.

I am having so much trouble with my faceups!  Doesn't have anything to do with me.. but the fuzzies that keep getting stuck to the msc!  No matter where I do the faceup, fuzz appears.

Yellow fuzz, from a cat of the evil persuasion who keeps flicking his damned tail into the head as it's drying.  I kick him out of the room and close the door he cries his fool head off, which is sweet cause he just wants to be with me, but still... I have to let him back in and then he wants in my lap.

which is where he is now, in between the laptop and myself.  Adorable pain in the ass.

Cow and Chicken marathon on cartoon network.  This is awesome.

I miss Lonny, a lot.  Not awesome...

So... I should not look at dolls.  Like ever.. I want a Dollfie Dream XD  I want a super anime looking girl.  Plus she can easily share clothes with Latte.

Also... there is a possibility of a Heliot yo.... Little Unicorn... cute little unicorn boy.  Damn you Soom... DAMN YOU!  I probably won't have the money to get him :(  If I read the release chart correctly he'll come out in August... My birthday.  But all my money is going towards my ticket to Europe that month.

Dragonball movie.. Still looks lame.

I'm selling Darien.  I just don't play with him.  He's a fantastic doll, but... just not for me.  I'm really sort of bummed to see him go... I thought I'd post here first so if anyone on my f-list wanted dibs on him.

Today was absolutely delightful!  The weather was great (I got a sunburn, but oh well...)! 

I had so much fun in my casual lolita outfit!  I finally have a skirt that has the actual shape of the real lolita skirts!  My mom made it, and in like... 2 or 3 hours.  She is awesome sewing lady and I love her!

I did a Barbie themed casual lolita outfit!  I am soooo tired, but I thought I'd most the massive amount of pictures on here first so I can look at them and lol.
